[Conjurer] Revised map drawing works great!

Posted by mongoid - July 13th, 2009

The revised engine handles drawing the level much more efficiently, and I can have animated props now. The new first level looks awesome. I can also use your help in telling me how well the engine performs.

Go and see for yourself.

All the art is amazing. :D

Absolutely Beautiful man.
Runs perfectly.
One question.
When do you think it'll be released?

I've stopped trying to guess when this will be done. I think by keeping up with the blog it keeps me focused, and thus... keeps the game on track.

Takes up 30% Comp Usage.

Custom Gaming Comp with a bunch of technical shitz

wewt.

That's awesome for all the alpha effects and filters I have going on.

WOW! I'm really excited for this game!

You and me both.

super rad.

Super bad!

freaking beautiful man. Seriously so freaking inspired seeing that.

Your music behind it will make it 20 times more awesome.

:-D

Great A?

Hmmm, typo? Or code?

Hmmmmmm....

Looking more awesome than ever!!!

Thanks!

:-)

You've been working on this since the dawn of time, you know. I guess we'll have to wait for the Apocalypse for the release...

Haha, I've been getting that a lot. But really what's been going on is that I'm constantly finding better, easier, and more efficient ways of implementing the features I'm building into the game. For instance, with level design I was limited to a bitmap that was 2880x2880 pixels wide (maximum sized level). After a little more planning and experimentation, I've devised a way of creating levels that are much longer and wider and still don't hog a lot of CPU. Now that the size limit is gone, why not do a redesign of the levels and use the extra breathing room for some more creative platforming?

I don't really have a deadline. It's a pet project that I'm going to use to help shove my foot in the door of a game studio of my choice when I graduate college. So best to get it done right the first time...

... within reason.

;-P

Amazing.

Average of about 34% on a basic computer from Wal-Mart.

Awesome. That's actually fantastic info.

**EDIT**: After reading through my responses, it looks like I enjoy the word "awesome," don't I?

Absolutely no problems in performance.
