Hey guys,

I just posted a prototype of a tile-based scrollable background in AS 3.0. Also, there's a little lesson in why tile-based engines kick so much ass.

Let me know what you think!

I've just started development on my new epic platformer, MageQuest. My goal is to make this sit among the top echelon in flash gaming. It will feature stellar art and animation, a sweeping sound track courtesy of MaestroRage, and a console-like gaming experience through its engine and gameplay!

The cool part is that I'm going to document every step of its production in my development blog, www.mondomaniatrics.com/blog. Pop in and check out the latests updates, or subscribe to the RSS feeds!

My new flash game development blog is finally up and running! I plan on using it to document every step of the development process for each game I make, including character development, sprite animation, engine design/implementation, and much more. I'm hoping to make it a premium resource for game development. Please check in often, or subscribe to the post RSS feed.

Let me know what you think! I'd love to hear what you all have to say!

The following is probably the best PM I have ever received. Hats off to Seal36 for the 15-year-old, illiterate, emo douche that he is. God bless them all!

"Now, granted, I just did the art and animation for it, but that was still a huge task! Seven characters, all animated frame-by-frame, and all the background art took over a month of hard work and refinement! Jeff Wofford did a fantastic job coming up with the engine. I look forward to working with him in the future. Check out the ArmorGames blog if you'd like to see a character sheet for all CoffeeShop characters.

Hahahaha!!!!!! I love it.

Awesome! 'CoffeeShop' was finally released on Newgrounds, and now I have my first Daily Feature Award! Woohoo!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the game Number 1! And, thank you to Tom Fulp for giving it front page exposure!

Ugh, LazerBeamz is finally done.

What an odd project. It was my second major attempt at ActionScript 3.0, and I still have a lot to learn, though I feel much more comfortable with it now.

There was a long period of frustration with trigonometry. I really should have paid more attention in class, though that was about 3 - 4 years ago. A lot of other stuff has helped me forget most of the function and identities I needed. Hey! Did you know that arctangent gives you an incorrect angle of it's in the 4th quadrant. It took me a day to figure that out. ONE WHOLE DAY spent scrutinizing at the same 4 lines of code!

Anyway, I'm glad it is out. I hope you all enjoy it.

Hangman Extreme wrapped up on Monday. It would have been out sooner, but I've really just begun working in Actionscript 3.0 and it has proven to be a very verbose and tricky language to pick up.

I've really enjoyed working in the new ArmorGames offices here in Irvine, CA. It's working out quite well with my school schedule at UC Irvine. Though I'm sad that I've had to drop a number of other projects after joining AG. It's a full time gig. I had an awesome project for MoFunZone that fell through, as well as a potentially lucrative project with an upcoming Sony title.

:-( Poop...

jmtb02, the creator of Dark Cut and Ball Revamped (1, 2, 3, XP, xTreme, Son of Ball, Revenge of Ball, etc) , and Luka M., the creator of Nuclear Eagle and the Classroom series, have turned out to be good office mates. We have a lot in common, and thanks to Dan McNeely and John [jmtb02], I'm now thoroughly addicted to Halo 3. Luka has been fervently enjoying Orange Box in his downtime. It looks as though he's already blasted through Portal and Half-Life Ep.2 and is now enjoying TeamFortress 2, which by the way is one of the best designed multiplayers I've played since, well, Team Fortress Classic. DemoMan FTW.

Working for Dan McNeely is fun. I can't really call him my boss. I feel weird about it. He's only ten days older than me. So for now I'll say that I contract for him. Hahaha! The whole team took a trip to Knotts Scary Farm in Los Angeles. They dress up the entire park in spooky Halloween decorations and hire actors to cake a bunch of latex on their faces and scary the living bejeezus out of the patrons. Here's a video of my lovely fiancee being chased around with a chainsaw.

Man, the zombie people picked on her. I'm the tall guy on the right laughing his ass off. You get a great shot of the back of my head.

I look forward to my upcoming projects, especially since I can devote a much larger chunk of my creative energy toward them.

Keep your eyes peeled.

PM me if you have any ActionScript 3.0 questions. [ NOTE: I said "questions." I will not program your game for you. ]

I'm working on MANY new project ideas, some of which will be available to view soon, others a bit further along. The last 3 months have been a whirlwind of planning, re-planning, and anticipation! For those who have enjoyed my projects in the past, keep your ears open!

Fucking TITS! I can't believe it! 'Monsters of Rock' placed 5th in the contest! I'm so happy I could puke!

Hey guys,

My NG/ArmorGames Rock-Off contest entry 'Monsters of Rock' kinda went under the radar. I submitted it shortly before the site went down for redesign. Head on over and let me know what you think!
